Late summer is a perfect time to celebrate a bridal shower for a friend or relative getting married in the fall, or to host your bridal luncheon pre-Autumn wedding, or why not just enjoy a lovely evening get-together with friends. The colors at this time of the year are superb with spicy oranges, deep mustard yellows, bright sunflower hues, fiery reds and an amazing burgundy here and there, accented by wheat and brown — what a gorgeous cornucopia of color. I took all those color combinations to design a small vignette table to use as a seating and lunch area for your soirée with a rustic vibe in a deep color palette.
As you begin to plan for your event, arrange seating areas in small clusters to allow guests to mingle and interact. Have a fruit/dessert station, as well as a drink table and a food table dispersed throughout the space. This allows your guests to walk around and talk with other guests. For seating, use small tables that seat up to 4-6. Dressed them up with a simple and cute tablecloth or just a runner. I kept the look simple with jewel tones, flowers and decorations added a special touch.
Burlap does add a beautiful rustic summer feel to table settings and event design. Most times I see burlap matched to a pastel or organic palette but I decided to try it with rich reds, burgundy and yellow – burlap offers such a wonderful look, and with this palette you can jazz it up with a touch of satin in your chair covers and runners. For decorations I included small potted plants wrapped in craft paper and tied with a simple bakers twine, you can use raffia as well.
For color and texture I added some branches and sunflowers, now in bloom, to the floral centerpieces. Place settings incorporated a touch of burlap as well with adorable handmade rosettes. You can add a brooch or a hair clip pin in the back, and they can serve not only as decorations, but also as favors after the party. For an additional rustic decor, I added sweet 6″ wreaths decorated just with a name tag for each guest. I love these wreaths, don’t you, simple and elegant rustic decor, what a treat!
Thanks to Linen Tablecloth for providing the chair covers in burgundy and chocolate/brown satin that we used. They are gorgeous and so luxurious, and truly so affordable. For a vignette like this you can mix and match your linens to accommodate the colors of your event’s palette. The chocolate and burgundy worked so well together. These universal chair covers are a great way to add color and a touch of glam.
This simple DIY vignette is very affordable. Here’s a sample budget for the two seat vignette shown above. More It’s A Party coming soon, next time we’ll focus on backdrops for your event. Happy Decorating!
