Wedding Friday: The Wedding Mile, a Marketplace for Handcrafted Wedding Beauty

Happy Friday lovelies, today for Wedding Friday, I want to introduce you to a fabulous marketplace for all things handmade and custom designed just for weddings, The Wedding Mile.com.  We had the opportunity to chat with them and asked a few questions about how the site was created, what is their vision and mission, and how can  brides find the latest in wedding decor and ideas, and how wedding designers and crafters can set up a shop online.

The Wedding Mile was created by Lee Stein with a wonderful vision — to offer  a site for handcrafted beauties, a marketplace that  provides all engaged couples planning a wedding with insights on planning ideas and beautiful handmade goodies.  At The Wedding Mile you will find a gift registry, a blog featuring everything from flowers to theme weddings, expert wedding advice, and everything you need to make your day special:  wedding bouquets, stationery, gift ideas for the bridal party, decorations for the wedding reception and ceremony, adorable dresses for flower girls, and couture inspired headpieces.
Lee Stein, founder of The Wedding Mile, is an entrepreneur, author, and sales professional with over 15 years of sales and marketing experience, both online and offline. She has operated businesses in the retail space as well as web development and design, SEO and social media. Lee is also a certified non-denominational wedding officiant, marrying people of all races, religions, creeds, and lifestyles!  Here’s a little bit of our chat with Lee:

1.  We love the idea of handmade goodies and custom designs for weddings, they make such a wonderful personal statement.  What motivated you to design the “The Wedding Mile” market concept ?

I have always loved all things arts and crafts and I spend a lot of time on these types of sites. I think a part of me lives vicariously through the artisan that I never became. I also began noticing the proliferation of brides who were paying closer attention to the smaller details…the little accents that ensured their personal style and inspiration was reflected in their wedding. It was clear to me that handmade artisans made perfect partners for these brides because, unlike larger commercial manufacturers, they could cater to special requests and create custom items. It was truly the perfect marriage…pun intended

2.  How can brides and vendors/crafters expect from their visit to The Wedding Mile?  How do vendors can get involved and open a shop in Wedding Mile?

Brides should expect to be inspired by the original, creative, and beautiful items listed on the site. We also feature content that keeps them up to date on the latest wedding trends, and shortly we’ll be adding new sorting features that allow them to search by color pallette, price range and theme, among other options.  Opening a shop is easy, doesn’t require any up front payment information, and includes 3 months free for all new sellers! Artisans can click on this link

and open their store right away. Sellers can expect a robust dashboard with built in SEO prompts, marketing materials, newsletter integration, and an easy uploader for items they may have listed on other marketplaces.

3.  What new trends do you this year in the handmade wedding market this year, what other trends will keep on going (i.e. rustic wedding, mason jars, burlap décor, etc.)?
Awesome New trends include: more signage, more props for interesting wedding shots, more eco-green, and more personalized, illustrated invitations.  This year we’ll see some more of the continuing trends that won over so many followers: creative, themed wedding cakes, dessert bars (yay!), alternative bouquets and boutonnieres, and of course…vintage!

Here are a few samples of the wonderful handcrafted items you will find at The Wedding Mile. Follow them on Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter as well, for fantastic new takes on wedding items for your special day. Happy Friday!
