Styled Shoot

Glam Rock Star Inspiration with Rachel Lowe Photography

This sexy, edgy and super cool Glam Rock Star  shoot is inspired by the music and artists of the 70’s.   In celebration of this music and our love for their sounds, the shoot includes some funky disco elements, we couldn’t have a disco theme without mirror balls, along with throwback vinyl records and other rock details, drum sticks, musical notes, electric guitars, and more.  The color palette features radiant orchid along with pewter, red, deep purple and pink.

The venue is an alternative performance space in the DC area that is truly a gem, Empire.  We loved using their  Alchemy Room, a wonderful space that speaks to some of the elements of the shoot,  it offers an awesome setting for a tribute to the 70’s and the clubs of the era.

Oh La Lolly Shop, a paper craft designer and studio, created a pewter and black invitation suite with a gorgeous array of pattern papers in graphic textures.

Our models, Jesse and Becca, were styled in the venue’s Green Room, and their wardrobe included details of our color palette and theme. We love the bride’ simple and elegant vintage bridal gown by Eden Bridals with delicate long sleeves, accented by beading and sequin in the scoop neck and cover of the bodice and netting sleeves as a node to the style of the era. Our groom was fitted in a paisley vest and radiant orchid tie in a loose punk rock fit, with makeup and eyeliner designs by Carolyn Thombs Makeup Artistry and Designs. Carolyn also created beautiful waves and luscious free style curls and flips for the bride’s hairstyle.

To recreate the music club scene,FM Entertainment by DJ Flounder provided radiant orchid uplightling throughout the venue offering a amazing contrast between the radian orchid lights and and the red and black background of the venue space, creating the perfect mood for the wedding reception in a fun and engaging party atmosphere.

EightTreeStreet created lush florals for the centerpieces and the asymmetrical cascading bridal bouquet that featured a delicate mix of Spring textures and colors including peonies, sweet peas, stock, orchids, scabiosa flowers, roses, tulips, lilacs.   The details we designed for the tablescape mixed pewter linens with red votives and radiant orchid candles and napkins.

The dessert bar included a new twist on the naked cake, a delicious and gorgeous naked caked made entirely of cheesecakes by Sweet Pearlz Cheesecakes that we decorated with beautiful blooms. The cake topper in glittery silver by The Pink Poppy Party Shoppe complemented the design.

A group of talented Etsy designers joined our team with handmade designs: jewelry designer BluKatDesigns created radiant orchid drop earrings; Pink Poppe Party Shop in Haymarket designed the glittery “Mr. and Mrs.” silver cake topper, and Lets Keep Clam designed colorful signage  on the dessert bar.

Now, let’s get ready to Rock!
